Gilly loves taking care of her patients, with a preventive and minimally interventive approach. Gilly has come to enjoy dentistry more and more as its emphasis has changed from intervention to prevention and improvement of appearance. Gilly loves bonding, and making beautiful Cerec restorations. In the last few years as dentistry has changed rapidly Gilly has kept right up to date.
Gilly decided to be a dentist after having a Saturday job as a dental nurse. At Edinburgh Dental School she was social secretary of the Final Year Club and the Dental Students Society. She starred in the student play and also composed and performed her own song “Will I get to be a dentist before the Russians come” at the student revue. Around this time she met a young student from the year below- Yann.
Gilly qualified from Edinburgh University in 1983, went into general practice and worked in various practices around Edinburgh before buying the practice in Chester Street with Yann in 1987. She also worked in Community dentistry for a short time.
Gilly is a member of the Royal Odontochirurgical Society of Scotland and a regular attendee at the Lothian Independent Practitioners round table study group.
From August 2011- August 2012 Gilly attended a 1 year certificated course in Cosmetic dentistry and Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry at Advanced Dental Seminars in London.
Gilly and Yann have 4 sons. Gilly loves cycling, especially in the Pentland Hills on her mountain bike, going away in the camper van with Yann, and she also enjoys judo and going to the gym.
